We wouldn’t usually look to a multi-storey carpack as a source of design inspiration, however these photographs by Nelson Garrido depict this recently-opened car park as something of a specatacle; “It’s not a building, more like a performance piece” says the property developer Robert Wennett.
Called ‘1111 Lincoln Road’, the Miami Beach car park located was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron with the aim to “solve a very important urban problem” by being a “public place for anyone who wants to enjoy the city, [mixing] programmes in unique ways that people have not seen before”.Â
What sets it apart from other car parks is that is designed as a series of spaces, rather than a standard stacking system. Many of the decks have extravagantly high ceilings whilst others have mezzanine levels and balconies offering magnificent views of the city.
Quite the destination for your car.
