Antonios Markos Conceptual Boutique, Athens

Here at 4 we are always on the lookout for unique little retail projects in far flung destinations, some might say kindred spirits.

Architects Gonzalez Haase of Paris and Berlin are responsible for the conceptual boutique design of Antonios Markos, located at the heart of Athens’ shopping district.

Spread across 200 square meters of softly-hued natural stone, the store is stripped of any excess element that might disturb the understated atmosphere and neutral colour palette of this European vision.  The emphasis remains on the exquisite nature of the design, where each garment and accessory becomes an individual work of art.

Its not all subdued though - the beautiful centrepiece of the store is a wall that has been cut away to reveal angled shards of mirror, quite literally an enormous diamond, casting glorious reflections across the space.

The boutique spans two levels which are separated by a tunnel-like staircase that completely divides the space. On the ground floor, you might find contemporary French brands such as Sessun and Roseanna, whilst a visit to the top floor reveals the likes of Kitsuné, Christopher Lemaire, Zucca and Tsumori Chisato.

We have  just planted a flag on our style map.
