Jun Takahashi founded his Undercover label in 1993. Creating lines for both men and women, Takahasi’s aesthetic is subversive but infused with a technicality and clarity that sets him apart from many of his contemporaries. Takahashi seeks to challenge preconceived notions both in his designs, and their presentation – a view that is encapsulated in Undercover’s motto — “We Make Noise, Not Clothes” — and reflected in its wildly imaginative collections, simultaneously sinister and playful, which broke down the divide between the street and the runway long before the rise of luxury streetwear.
