“Stigmas Opened?!” – The Beguiling New Collection from the Controversial Fashion Designer Sandra Sraukaite


 

‘Capucin, prudem priest, saint, acolyte, nun, widow, beggar, bride, shameless, convert, ascetic’ serve to collectively represent the myriad imagery used by the daring Lithuanian designer to describe her new collection shown recently at Lithuanian fashion festival Mados Infekcija. And we can certainly see why…

The designer has looked to prominent religious imagery to create a set of arresting pieces that appear to have been visualized within the pages of a Gothic novel. Lace and heavy wool in abundance, the pieces combine sharp tailoring and a sense of ambiguity.

A highlight is most certainly the elaborate veil and headpiece constructed from delicate black lace.
