Transition by Li Hui, Mannheimer Kunstverein

“Using rising fog to convey the meaning of metempsychosis – the transmigration of the soul – it is clear that spiritualism, in particular Buddhism, is central to the work of young Chinese artist, Li Hui”.

Hui also calls upon Chinese philosophy in his work, in this case dramatising the concept of transforming negativity into positivity through the visual representation of a bandaged car wreck, illuminated by 13,000 laser beams.

Having already shown in Beijing, Busan and Vienna, Hui has just showcased his work ‘Transition’ in Mannheim, Germany.
