“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” At The Costume Institute, NY

“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” an exhibition of the fashion of the late British designer will open at the Costume Institute on May 4th 2011, the Metropolitan Museum of Art said earlier this month.

The exhibit will include designs from Mr. McQueen’s postgraduate show at Central Saint Martins in 1992 until his final collection in 2010.

Finding examples of his early work will be a detective hunt for the Met’s costume curators, as McQueen generally sold dresses to friends or individual patrons to pay bills, and there may not be a solid photographic record of those collections.
