Micasa Volume B By StudioMK27, Sao Paulo

One of the world’s largest cities, and the cultural capital of Brazil, São Paulo may have a reputation for street violence and chaos, but it’s that raw edge that is seeing the city garner somewhat of a name for itself in art, design and architecture.

StudioMK27’s beautiful block of concrete brutalism is a prime example of this.

An annex of an existing Vitra showroom, Micasa Volume B echoes the chaos of its surroundings with its uncompromising form and an external wall made of leftover metallic lace used for the concrete – a touch that was decided at the time of construction, transferring an element of the creative process to the builders.

Imposing, alluring and drenched in exposed concrete – Micasa Volume B has a unique, unrefined elegance.
