An unusual and elaborate piece of art has been set up in New York City’s Park Avenue Armory.
“No Man’s Land†by Christian Boltanski features a 25-foot-high mountain of used clothing in the center of the space. At regular intervals, a a crane grabs a clawful of clothes and drops it back onto the pile.
A backing soundtrack of human heartbeats and a grid of clothing combines with the pile to evoke ideas about futility, life and death.
Installation runs untill June 13th 2010.
