Opening Ceremony & Project 8 at the Ace Hotel, New York City
Yours truly, a certain hardworking intrepid 4 correspondent was in NY recently and stayed at The Ace Hotel which we can definitely recommend.
We were there the very same day the hotel opened it’s very own ‘travel’ Opening Ceremony store, as well as Project 8’s creation No. 8a. We attended the party of course and indeed became the second O.C. customer to purchase something the following day…
The boutique is every bit as hip as it’s flagship store, with an edited selection of Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Comme des Garcons and Band of Outsiders offering their spin on travel essentials and souvenirs.  These custom robes, pyjamas and re-imagined ‘I Heart NY’ t-shirts mingle casually with a trove of clever, travel-focused items that are exclusive to The Ace location. Branded toothbrushes and toiletry kits are both whimsical and practical, whilst luggage tags in an array of punchy colours liven up boring luggage.Â
Sitting comfortably alongside the boutique is No. 8a, Project 8’s ‘anti-souvenir shop’. A combination of minimalist art and frivolous fashion, guests are both intrigued and bemused by the store. Here you can find comical stationery by Yellow Owl Workshop, Cordell Cornell white tees, Various Projects trench coats, In Fiore candles, and adorable jars of candy by Papabubble.
Why bother leaving the hotel we say…
