Fashion Month is drawing to a close but with Paris Fashion Week starting today here are some things we’re looking forward to:
1. The Location – Paris comes as a welcome change to the industrialised backdrops of London, New York and Milan. And while the city as a whole is beautiful enough, Paris Fashion Week is held at a totally flawless venue: the Carrousel du Louvre.
2. Sartorial Streets – As well as the runway shows, there’s the street style, we love seeing how attendees style themselves at the shows.
3. Vetements Hype – Look no further than all the street style pics of cool girls wearing Vetements for proof that the palpable energy following last season’s show has risen to the next level. Now the design collective, headed by Demna Gvasalia, needs to prove it can build on the buzz.
4. New Talent – This may be the breakout season for Wanda Nylon’s Johanna Senyk, whose Futurist-meet-fetishist outerwear has appeared on Rihanna, M.I.A., and Snoop Dogg. Meanwhile, Christelle Kocher made it to the final round in this year’s LVMH Prize competition and now has a spot on the PFW calendar for her label, Koché. Her CV—Bottega Veneta, Dries Van Noten, Sonia Rykiel, and Chloé—testifies to her lush approach to color and texture.
