Traditional craftsmanshipÂ with a contemporary twist can be found in the hand-crafted works of Dutch designer Dennis Slootweg.
Slootweg recentlyÂ exhibited with Tiddo de Ruiter as ‘Men at Work’ during Salone del MobileÂ where he showcased a collection of his most recent works.
With an eyeÂ for sustainable design, SlootwegÂ uses old recycled materials which have been gradually deconstructed.Â Recycled rusted metal is given a second life through a chance to be invigorated and transformed into unique design forms. As Slootweg claims he likes â€œto play with expectations; completely new products, like my Rust Cupboards made of old metal, thus still invoke a feeling of recognition â€“ almost immediately followed by the sense that there is more at stake.â€™
