‘Warehouse’ by Japanese architecture firm Hinichi Ogawa and Associates is a single volume residence with an enclosed courtyard.
To create loose boundaries and order to the open concept, the design incorporates subtle level changes: the ‘wet’ areas such as the kitchen and the bathroom are stepped down from the living area, while the washitsu (japanese-style room) and the office are placed half a level lower to the entry way.
The free standing wall units with built-in functions-closets, toilet and the kitchen appliances to provide privacy for the bedroom area.
A frosted glass fence encloses the expansive courtyard on the south side of the house and the interior can be opened completely to the outside by a series of sliding doors.
